Blocked Drains & CCTV Newstead

TRG Plumbing's licensed and insured plumbers clear blocked drains and run CCTV camera inspections right across Newstead, from the apartment towers along Skyring Terrace and Commercial Road to the heritage Queenslanders and converted woolstores near Doggett and Longland Streets. As an inner-northern suburb bounded by Breakfast Creek and the Brisbane River, Newstead sits low and flood-prone, with 2011 flooding reaching the old gasworks near Chester Street. Many older homes still rely on earthenware and clay sewer pipes that crack and admit roots from the suburb's mature fig and shade trees. We diagnose the real cause and fix it properly, whether you're in a high-rise unit or a streetfront terrace.

Our Newstead Blocked Drains & CCTV Services Include:

Emergency blocked drain repairs:
Rapid response for overflowing toilets and gully traps in Newstead apartments and Queenslanders, day or night.
CCTV drain camera inspections:
We send a camera through your line to pinpoint blockages and root intrusion in Newstead's older clay pipes.
High-pressure water jetting:
Powerful jetting cuts through grease, sludge and roots in drains around Commercial Road and Skyring Terrace.
Stormwater drain clearing:
We clear stormwater lines on low-lying riverside and Breakfast Creek properties prone to subtropical-storm flooding.
Drain & pipe relining:
We reline cracked earthenware sewer pipes under Newstead homes without major digging or disruption.
Preventative drain maintenance:
Scheduled checks and cleaning keep Newstead drains flowing ahead of summer storms and wet-season downpours.

We contacted TRG the night prior and received immediate contact. Their team was on-site within 36 hours and completed a very tricky job of installing a new Water heater in a tight loft space to replace one that was leaking and causing damage. They perform their duties with great professionalism and quality work, on time and to the exact quote they stated. I would use them again and encourage anyone else to use them also. Ian

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had no idea how big the problem was with our drainage. TRG Plumbing were amazing - they offered alternate solutions looking for the least invasive and most cost efficient way to fix the issues.
Josh from TRG was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble - he took the time to explain everything and really cared about our job and the outcome.
Tom and his team go over and above.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were really impressed with the service and experience we had with TRG. They installed a new hot water heater for us and fixed the drainage of our downpipes to connect to the stormwater at the street. They took care to really understand exactly what we were after with the work and made sure it was as neat and tidy as possible. They worked quickly and efficiently and their price was way more competitive than some of the other quotes we got. Tyrone, who mainly worked on the project, was really easy to deal with and we were very happy with the outcome. Would recommend.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t rate these guys highly enough. Had a plumbing issue for 3years, had 3 different plumbers come out and given wildly different fixes with a huge variant in cost, ranging from 2k to 10k+ & ripping off walls to saying it can’t be done. Tom was immediately confident they could fix it and the team (shoutout Josh & Anthony!) who thought outside the box, found the water cut off for the unit which the other 3 failed to do & fixed the problem promptly without knocking down any walls while keeping price in a very reasonable range. Also organised a plasterer & tiler to work concurrently with them & get the job done super fast. Brilliant all round, would recommend to anyone getting the run around. Never felt talked down to or patronised in any way & they showed up on time! Great communication and fully informed before any tasks started, with price point of differences given for each step. Just top blokes. I won’t use anyone else now. Huge thank you TRG!!

Got a blocked drain or suspect tree roots in your old Newstead pipes near Breakfast Creek or the river?

Tree Roots in Newstead's Old Earthenware Sewer Pipes

Newstead's scattered heritage Queenslanders and interwar dwellings near Doggett and Longland Streets often still run on jointed earthenware and clay sewer pipes. The suburb's mature fig and shade trees, especially around Newstead Park and older streets, send roots toward the moisture in these lines, creeping through cracks and joints. Over time roots form dense blockages that trigger slow drains and backups. Our CCTV cameras locate the exact intrusion point so we can jet it clear and recommend a lasting repair.

Stormwater and Flood Risk in Low-Lying Newstead

Bounded by Breakfast Creek to the north and the Brisbane River to the east, Newstead sits low and has a long flood history, with the 1893 flood inundating all but Teneriffe Hill and 2011 flooding reaching the old gasworks near Chester Street. Riverside and creek-edge properties face heavy runoff during subtropical storms. We clear and inspect stormwater drains, downpipes and pits so water moves away from your building rather than pooling around slabs and basements.

CCTV Diagnosis for Newstead Apartments and Warehouses

With roughly 98% of Newstead dwellings recorded as flats and units, shared drainage runs beneath dense apartment blocks and converted woolstores. Guesswork wastes time and money in these complex systems. Our CCTV cameras trace exactly where a blockage or damaged section sits, even under concrete or paving, so body corporates and owners get an accurate report. That footage guides targeted jetting or relining without unnecessary excavation.

Blocked Drains & CCTV Newstead FAQ

Common questions from Newstead residents and owners dealing with blocked drains, ageing clay pipes and stormwater near Breakfast Creek and the Brisbane River.

What are the signs of a blocked drain?

Look for slow-draining sinks, showers and toilets, gurgling sounds, bad odours, and water pooling around gully traps. In Newstead apartments and Queenslanders, a sewage smell or backup is a clear sign the line needs attention.

Can you clear a blocked drain in an emergency?

Yes. We offer rapid emergency response across Newstead for overflowing toilets, blocked sewers and stormwater backups during storms. Our licensed plumbers arrive equipped to clear most blockages on the spot and assess the cause.

What is a CCTV drain inspection?

We feed a small waterproof camera through your drain to view the inside of the pipe in real time. It lets us see blockages, cracks and root intrusion without digging, and we can show you the footage and pinpoint the problem's exact location.

Why does CCTV help with Newstead's old pipes?

Many older Newstead homes still run on earthenware and clay sewer pipes that crack and let in tree roots. A CCTV camera reveals the condition of these ageing lines, so we can tell whether a quick clear will do or whether the pipe needs relining.

What causes blocked drains in Newstead?

The main local culprits are tree roots from mature figs and shade trees invading old clay pipes, plus grease, debris and silt build-up. Low-lying riverside and Breakfast Creek areas also cope with heavy stormwater runoff that overwhelms drains during subtropical storms.

Can you repair damaged drains without digging?

Yes. Pipe relining lets us repair cracked or root-damaged sewer pipes from the inside, avoiding major excavation. This is ideal for Newstead's dense apartment blocks, paved courtyards and heritage homes where digging up the yard would be disruptive and costly.
