The jumper-valve taps in West End's workers' cottages, terraces and Queenslanders seal by pressing a rubber washer onto a brass seat, and after decades the seat pits so badly that a new washer alone will not stop the drip. We re-machine the seat with a reseating tool, fit new washers and O-rings and check the spindle, so the tap shuts off cleanly and stays that way.
