Hidden Base Leaks in Albion's Older Cottages

Many of Albion's late-1880s and interwar homes still have a toilet fixed to a timber floor over a subfloor that has seen a century of humidity. When the pan collar or seal fails, the water rarely shows on the surface; it tracks under the tiles or lino and into the joists. We lift the pan, renew the seal and inspect the floor while it is exposed, so a small repair does not become a floor replacement.

Concealed Cisterns in Albion's Unit Blocks

The unit blocks near Sandgate Road and Albion station were mostly built with back-to-wall suites and in-wall cisterns. When one starts running, owners often assume the wall has to come out. In almost every case we reach the mechanism through the flush plate and replace the inlet valve, flush valve or seals from the front, without disturbing the tiling.
